Arsenal Football Club has made one of the shocking moves in the 2025 summer transfer window by overtaking Tottenham for the signing of Eberechi Eze.
The winger has been linked with a move away from Crystal Palace to join Tottenham Hotspur before the 2025 summer transfer window closes. There was a change in events after Kai Havertz picked up a knee injury in training on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, which has ruled him out of action for a long time.
Eze’s release clause, worth £60m plus £8m in add-ons, reportedly expired before the start of the 205/26 Premier League season. The 27-year-old who started in Palace’s draw at Chelsea on Sunday, has two years left on his contract at Selhurst Park.
Despite speculation over his future, Eze started for Oliver Glasner’s side in the Community Shield win over Liverpool and Sunday’s Premier League opener against Chelsea. However, Crystal Palace would not give a go ahead, because they wanted the 27-year-old available for Thursday’s Conference League play-off match with Fredrikstad.
Tottenham were considering looking to offer Palace Richarlison plus cash in a deal for Eze. However, with the turn of events, the midfielder will most likely be playing for Arsenal before the transfer window closes.
How much did Arsenal pay Crystal Palace for Eberechi Eze?
Crystal Palace have agreed a fee of up to £67.5m with Arsenal for Eberechi Eze. According to reports the fee is £60m plus £7.5m in bonuses.
The personal terms is yet to be sorted but there should not be any issue between Eze and Arsenal as he prefers them over Tottenham after the offered to pay the same amount. Eze, who was a boyhood Arsenal fan and played in the club’s academy.
