FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Asante Africa Foundation Announces Executive Leadership Transitions Aligned with 2025 Strategic Plan
Oakland, CA | Nairobi, Kenya | Arusha, Tanzania | Kampala, Uganda – October 28, 2024 – Asante Africa Foundation is excited to announce key leadership changes as part of our 2025 Strategic Plan, aimed at strengthening the organization’s long-term stability, impact, and operational safety. These transitions are aligned with our commitment to enhancing governance, resource optimization, and program scalability, ensuring we can continue to serve youth across East Africa more effectively.
Strategic Leadership Transitions for Enhanced Impact
As part of Asante Africa Foundation’s 2021-2025 Strategic Plan, our focus is centered on three core pillars:
Strengthened country-level governance across our regions
Enhanced resource development and optimization to better serve our communities
Increased program impact and scalability to reach more youth across East Africa
The past year has seen significant progress in these areas, thanks to the partnership and dedication of our supporters. As we advance, key leadership transitions will drive the next phase of growth and impact.
Key Decisions at the 2024 Global Board Meeting
During the August 2024 Global Board meeting, we reviewed the progress and outcomes of our 2021-2024 plan and identified two critical decisions to guide us forward:
Erna Grasz, our current CEO, has been invited to take on the role of Global Chair of the Global Alliance Board.
The Board agreed to offer Geoffrey Kasangaki, currently Deputy CEO, the CEO position effective Q1 2025.
Introducing Geoffrey Kasangaki, Incoming CEO
We are proud to announce Geoffrey Kasangaki as the next CEO of Asante Africa Foundation. Geoffrey, who has served as Deputy CEO since 2023 and has been with the organization for seven years, brings deep experience, strategic vision, and a proven track record of leadership. We are confident that under Geoffrey’s guidance, Asante Africa will reach new heights and continue building on our collective achievements.
Transition Timeline and Next Steps
The official leadership transition will take place in Q1 2025. In the months leading up to this transition, our priority is ensuring a smooth and seamless handover of responsibilities. While Geoffrey steps into his new role as CEO, Erna will transition to her position as Global Chair. This process is being carefully managed to ensure both operational and governance continuity.
The organization will remain fully stable and operational throughout the transition, and we are committed to keeping our stakeholders informed every step of the way.
We deeply appreciate the ongoing support of our community and partners, as we continue to work together to create lasting change in the lives of East African youth.
