Babygrlzae Shares How A Herd Of Elephants Inspired Her Forthcoming Album “MATR!ARCHY.” Emtee Records artist Babygrlzae has shared the fascinating story behind her upcoming project, MATR!ARCHY, revealing how an encounter with nature sparked an idea that would evolve into a musical celebration of female strength and empowerment.
The concept for the project began during her annual trip to Kruger National Park with her family, a journey that quickly turned into a source of inspiration.
Throughout their trip, Babygrlzae noticed something unusual. She kept attracting elephants despite the natural fear these large animals can instil. The encounters happened repeatedly and seemed to carry a message. “It kept happening throughout the whole trip, and it got us feeling like they were trying to point something out or tell me something,” she explained. Observing the elephants, she and her family were struck by the matriarchs who lead elephant herds, noting how one female guides the group. In contrast, the others follow, forming an almost untouchable collective.
This moment of reflection led Babygrlzae to draw a connection between the leadership of elephants and the potential for women to lead and support one another. She considered how she could create music that would unite women and spark conversations about topics that matter to them.
From this insight, the idea for MATR!ARCHY was born. “Empowering women has always been one of my motives to make music. That is how MATR!ARCHY was born, and how the project got its title. It is not only about me, but a group of powerful women coming together to uplift others. That to me is inspiring,” she said.
The project promises to be a platform for female voices, with Babygrlzae aiming to explore themes of leadership, resilience, and solidarity. Observing elephants in their natural habitat gave her a unique metaphor for women’s communities, showing how strength, protection, and guidance can coexist in powerful ways. MATR!ARCHY intends to capture that same energy in music by celebrating women who lead, inspire, and nurture others around them.
This project signals Babygrlzae’s commitment to not only creating music but also fostering community and dialogue among women. With MATR!ARCHY, she sets out to lead through artistry, bringing together female voices in a powerful, unifying statement that reflects strength, courage, and inspiration. The album is set to drop this Friday under Emtee Records with strong, anthemic tracks that mirror the balance of gentleness and authority seen in elephant matriarchs.
