Cassper Opens Up On What Keeps Him Going Amid Constant Backlash. South African rap heavyweight Cassper Nyovest opened up about the dizzying mix of adoration and animosity that follows him through the public square, telling a candid story of how faith steadies him amid relentless online storms.
Speaking during an interview on YOU FM, Cassper was vehemently asked what keeps him going amid the constant hate that he receives from South Africans. “You have to go on. I wish I didn’t have to go on. I think everybody wants a soft life. I’m not saying I want to die, but it’s like everybody is chasing peace, and the only peace I have is in Christ, because through all the commotion, there’s one thing I know that never changes, and that’s Christ. It’s hard, but every week, every two weeks, someone will just say my name,” he said.
Cassper said one incident that summed up the hate he endures was when someone began speaking ill of him purely to get traction and chase clout. Even so, he made it clear he will never retaliate or speak badly of another person — he knows how that pain feels and refuses to inflict it on someone else.
“The other day, I just saw some guy with the most ridiculous story. I look at some of these things, and I’m like, it’s crazy because I definitely know the very same people when their names are used in the very same fashion, how they feel. That’s why you will never find me just jumping out and talking about people. You will never see me coming out insulting someone. Because I know I’m actually hurting someone, but it is what it is, and it comes with great responsibility on these platforms,” he added.
Cassper added that the hostility no longer surprises him — people are simply exploiting the power and traction of his name for their own gain. He pointed to Jesus, who was hated and killed after claiming to be the Messiah, as a stark example of how public figures can become targets.
“Remember, it’s all because of the type of traction that your name has; people hated Jesus; they killed him, bro. So who am I? So you have to take it, that’s people, that’s how they are, and it’s also spiritual, we’re not fighting flesh and blood, you are a target. And the moment you start speaking about Christ, it’s like all hell breaks loose,” he added.
