Chelsea FC’s head coach, Liam Rosenior, has confirmed that the club captain, Enzo Fernandez, has been suspended for two matches.
In his pre-match press conference, Liam Rosenior confirmed that Enzo Fernandez will be suspended for two (2) matches following his shocking comments about his future and the possibility of a move to Real Madrid.
This officially confirms that Fernandez will not be available for selection ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup fixture against Port Vale and also Sunday’s Premier League fixture against Manchester United, which will be played on April 12th 2026.
Speaking on the reason behind his decision, head coach Liam Rosenior revealed, “I spoke with Enzo an hour ago. We’ve made a decision – he won’t be available for tomorrow’s game and he won’t be available for Manchester City.”
“It’s disappointing to speak in that way. What I will say about Enzo is that, in terms of him as a person, I’ve got no bad words to say. But a line was crossed in terms of our culture. We had to make a sanction.”
Fernandez has frequently been mentioned as a potential summer target for Real Madrid, and he did little to silence the speculation after Chelsea’s crushing Champions League round-of-16 loss to Paris Saint-Germain. Speaking to ESPN Argentina, the midfielder was uncertain about his long-term future, replying, “I don’t know,” when asked if he expected to remain at Stamford Bridge next season.
He added: “Right now, I’m focused on Chelsea. After that, there’s the World Cup, and then we’ll see what happens.”
