Emma Hayes has led the US Women’s National Team (USWNT) to a gold medal at the 2024 Olympics following an impressive victory over Brazil.
The United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) claimed the women’s Olympic football title at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, defeating Brazil 1-0 at the Parc des Princes on Saturday, August 10.
Emma Hayes solidified her reputation as one of the top coaches in women’s football by guiding the United States to Olympic gold in her debut tournament as head coach.
Hayes, who took the job less than three months after leaving Chelsea, has revitalized the team and led them to Olympic glory during a period of transition. Mallory Swanson scored the decisive goal, securing the Americans’ fifth gold medal, and marking Hayes’ first.
Hayes had always dreamed of leading the US women’s team to Olympic victory, and she successfully turned that dream into reality.
With iconic forward Megan Rapinoe and Hollywood star Tom Cruise watching from the stands, the USWNT overcame early pressure from Brazil, including a disallowed goal by Ludmila for offside. The Americans eventually grew into the match, which was a thrilling, end-to-end encounter.
