Emtee has issued a public apology to reality TV star and Big Brother contestant Mshini Lekwadu after a private conversation between the two surfaced on social media, sparking a wave of controversy and misunderstandings.
The saga began when screenshots of a direct message exchange between Emtee and Mshini were shared on Emtee’s Instagram Stories. The images quickly went viral, with many social media users speculating about the nature of their relationship. This led to assumptions that the rapper was being disloyal to his wife, especially as the conversation included Emtee asking Mshini when he could visit her.
In one of the leaked screenshots, Mshini provided her location and responded positively to a proposed visit, writing: “Hey Emtee and I hope you good, you can come on Friday.” This, without full context, was quickly misinterpreted by the public, leading to suggestions of flirtation or infidelity.
Mshini took to her Instagram to clear the air, releasing a statement directly addressing the controversy. She expressed disappointment that only a portion of their private conversation was made public, arguing that this lack of context distorted the nature of their interaction.
“Hey Emtee, I’ve always been a genuine supporter of your music,” she wrote. “I see you’ve posted part of our DMs without the full context, which has caused misunderstandings. You know our chats were innocent and music-related. Please clear the air and post the full conversation, not just selected screenshots.”
In a more detailed follow-up statement, Mshini clarified that her interaction with Emtee was rooted in mutual respect and admiration for his music. She explained that she supported Emtee during her time in the Big Brother house and that he reached out to her after the show to thank her for her support. According to her, she responded by expressing her admiration and willingness to be part of one of his music videos.

Following the backlash and Mshini’s public statements, Emtee also took to Instagram to issue an apology. In a series of posts, the rapper acknowledged the confusion caused and extended a sincere apology to Mshini, her team, and her loved ones.
“I would like to extend an apology to Mshini, her team and loved ones. I would never intentionally expose our conversations and put her safety at risk as I prioritise safety as well,” Emtee wrote. Notably, he ended his post with a firm denial: “I DID NOT POST THE CONVERSATIONS,” though he stopped short of claiming he was hacked or offering an explanation for how the screenshots ended up on his stories.
Emtee further clarified that his intention behind reaching out to Mshini was to express gratitude for her public support.
As the dust settles, both Emtee and Mshini appear committed to moving forward while preserving their professional reputations.
