Emtee Says 2026 Will Feel Like His 2013–2014 Musical Era All Over Again. South African hip-hop heavyweight Emtee has set the tone for 2026 with a confident message that has fans buzzing about a full-blown musical comeback.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, the rapper born Mthembeni Ndevu hinted that the year ahead will see him move with the same intensity and consistency that defined his early rise. “The way ima be dropping, doing features and making music this year mxm… it’s gon be like back in the day 2013–2014 type timing,” Emtee wrote, instantly tapping into nostalgia.
The statement points back to the period before his mainstream breakthrough, when his hunger and work rate laid the foundation for his debut album Logan in 2015. That run produced era-defining hits such as “Roll Up” and “Couldn’t,” cementing his status as one of the most exciting voices in SA hip-hop under Ambitiouz Entertainment before he eventually went independent.
The timing of the post is significant. Toward the end of last year, Emtee spoke openly about preparing what he called his final album, while gradually shifting his focus toward running his own label, Emtee Records.
In his remarks around November 2025, he revealed plans to release a new project at the start of 2026, following DIY 3, which dropped in late 2024. Although details such as the album title, tracklist, or release date remain under wraps, his latest comments suggest fans should expect more than just one body of work. A steady stream of singles, features, and nonstop output appears to be on the way.
By referencing 2013 and 2014, Emtee is clearly pointing to his raw, relentless grind days. That era was defined by frequent drops, street anthems, and a trap-heavy sound that blended local authenticity with global appeal. If he truly channels that energy again, listeners could be in for surprise releases, high-impact collaborations, and the kind of momentum that once made his name unavoidable.
As 2026 unfolds, attention now turns to whether Emtee can fully deliver on this throwback promise. Whether through a major album rollout, a barrage of singles, or standout features, the year ahead has the potential to mark a powerful new chapter.
