Emtee Slams KOK Agency Over Alleged Booking Scam. South African rap star Emtee has issued a blistering public response to a formal notice from KOK Agency, apologising for confusion around his live bookings and urging promoters to contact Emtee Records directly.
The rapper denied any link to the company and accused unnamed operators of using his name to mislead promoters and fans.
KOK Agency circulated an “Important Notice” apologising for “any confusion, disruptions, or brand damage” that may have arisen from its association with Emtee in relation to gig bookings. It instructed the industry to direct management and booking inquiries exclusively to Emtee Records, and it listed a direct contact route by DM or text at +27 65 106 9856. The agency closed with a request for cooperation and understanding as it moves forward.
Within hours, Emtee used uncompromising language to reject the very idea of an association. His message read, verbatim, “ ‘Association’ Yama simba. Ion know you, never met you or even know what u look like. From the bottom of my heart, F**K YOU and whoever you work with scamming people in my name. F**k you! Will find you sons of b***s one by one nizonya ms*n yabo nyoko.” The final phrase is an isiZulu insult that underscores the depth of his anger.
The clash highlights a growing issue in the live events industry. When third parties claim booking authority without an artist’s consent, the fallout can be severe. Promoters can lose deposits. Fans can see shows announced and then cancelled when the venue discovers the artist was never confirmed. Artists suffer reputational harm as cancelled flyers and disappointed crowds echo across social media. The KOK notice attempted to reset the process by pointing everyone to a single verified channel at Emtee Records. Emtee’s response shows he believes the issue goes beyond an administrative mix-up and into the realm of deliberate deception.
