The head coach of Chelsea Football Club Enzo Maresca has given an injury update on his team ahead of the home game against Fulham.
Enzo Maresca was speaking about his players fitness during the pre-match press conference ahead of the London derby against Fulham. According to him, Cole Palmer, Berniot Badiashile and Romeo Lavia are all out of the squad.
The England international suffered an injury during the warmup ahead of the derby against West Ham United at the London Stadium on Friday, August 22, 2025.
He said,
“Cole is out, Benoit (Badisahile) is out, Romeo (Lavia) is out and the rest are okay.”
Maresca spoke about Christopher Nkunku who is set to join AC Milan after two seasons with Chelsea. The Italian explained that the reason why the club sold Nkunku was because he plays the same role as Palmer.
“Christo is a fantastic professional, he trained very well, the only problem with Christo was in his position was a player like Cole. They can expect fantastic things (at Milan) because is a fantastic professional and player.”
Chelsea have managed four points in their first two games of the season against Crystal Palace and West Ham. Everyone at the club will hope Palmer returns to fitness before the end of the international break.
