Feyenoord appoints Robin van Persie as its head coach

Former Arsenal and Manchester United forward player, Robin van Persie has been appointed as the new head coach of Feyenoord on à long-term deal as they look to build a future around the Dutchman.

The news was confirmed on the official X account of transfer news expert, Fabrizio Romano on Friday, February 21, 2025. According to the Italian, Robin van Persie signed a two-year deal which will keep him with Feyenoord until the summer in 2025, and he will be joined by Rene Hake, who previously served as an assistant to Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag.

He said,

“Robin van Persie signs in today as new Feyenoord head coach until June 2027. Former Erik ten Hag’s assistant Rene Hake will join his staff too.”

The 41-year-old, currently managing Eredivisie side Heerenveen, is expected to finalize his return to Rotterdam later this week. Feyenoord, who parted ways with Brian Priske earlier this month, see Van Persie as the best candidate to take over.

Van Persie could be setting up a date with the club that gave him the limelight, Arsenal Football Club as both teams are currently in the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League. Feyenoord supporters will hope that Van Persie can replicate the same performance he did when he was still in active football.
