“I’m Just Going Through It”: Nasty C Opens Up About His Mental State As ‘Free (Deluxe)’ Nears Release. South African rapper Nasty C has spoken candidly about his recent absence from social media and content creation, sharing a heartfelt message with fans through a video posted on Instagram.

In the raw and unfiltered clip, the artist, born Nsikayezwe David Junior Ngcobo, revealed that he has been dealing with personal challenges since December. According to the Durban-born star, the past few months have been emotionally difficult, stretching from December through January and February and now into March.
“Look, in a weird way, I feel like I need to apologise for the lack of content the past couple of months,” Nasty C said. “I haven’t been in the right headspace to make any kind of cool, happy content because I haven’t been happy. I’ve been going through it.”
Despite the personal difficulties, the rapper reassured supporters that his struggles are strictly private and have not affected his music or professional plans. He stressed that nothing related to his career should cause concern, describing the message as a sincere human moment rather than something meant for entertainment.
“I’m a human being,” he explained. “I can’t be an entertainer for you right now. I can’t dance for you, I can’t be funny, I can’t even motivate you right now. I need all that stuff.”
Nasty C also made it clear that he was not sharing the message to receive sympathy from fans. “Please, I’m not asking for your I’m sorrys, your I love yous, all that stuff. I don’t want none of that stuff. Thank you, but please no,” he said.
Instead, he shifted the focus to his upcoming release, confirming that a deluxe edition of his album Free is on the way. He highlighted the previously released single “No Typo”, describing it as a strong preview of what listeners can expect from the expanded project.
“I don’t half-step when it comes to my music. You guys know that,” he said confidently.
The deluxe version of Free is expected to arrive soon, with March 13, 2026, widely circulating among fans and music pages as the anticipated release date. Nasty C encouraged supporters to pre-save the project through the link provided and to stream the music once it drops.
He also admitted that his original plan for 2026 involved releasing a steady stream of content and staying highly visible online, but personal circumstances made that difficult.
“If I could somehow bypass some of my personal stuff and just focus on the business only, you guys would be seeing a lot of me,” he shared.
Even while acknowledging the challenges he is facing, the rapper maintained an optimistic outlook about his recovery and future.
“Don’t worry about me. I will be fine. I will be good in no time. I’m just going through it, like everyone else.”
He ended the message with a request to his loyal fanbase, known as the Ivysons, asking them to support him by continuing to listen to his music.
“Hold it down for me. I really need my fans to hold it down for me in the meantime. Play my music when it drops. That’s all I need from you guys right now.”
The post has resonated with many supporters, offering a rare glimpse into the personal side of one of Africa’s biggest hip hop stars as he navigates a challenging season while preparing to deliver new music. Fans have already begun rallying behind him through pre-saves and streams of “No Typo,” building anticipation for the upcoming Free deluxe release.
