Inter Milan have reportedly appointed Cristian Chivu as its new head coach following the exit of Simone Inzaghi at the club.
Cristian Chivu signed a two-year deal with the Milan club which will keep him at the San Siro at least until June 2027. The former Inter defender and youth coach returns to the club after a stint at Parma, where he successfully helped the team avoid relegation.
Chivu’s appointment follows Inter’s unsuccessful attempt to hire Cesc Fàbregas, who chose to remain with Como. Chivu is set to lead Inter in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, with their first match scheduled against Monterrey on June 17.
Inter and Inzaghi decided to part ways by mutual consent following the humiliation they suffered at the hands of Paris Saint Germain in the UEFA Champions League final played on May 31, 2025. This was Inter’s second defeat in the competition in three years.
Inzaghi has moved on to join Saudi Arabia club side Al-Hilal as they continue in their bid to dominate the Saudi pro league.
