Kid X Celebrates Collaborative Art Project Inspired By “Zen.” Kid X recently took fans back in time with a nostalgic Throwback Sunday post on Instagram, revisiting a special creative moment connected to his song “Zen” featuring Boskasie.

The post, shared in early March 2026, saw the rapper reflecting on a collaborative initiative that brought together dozens of visual artists who created artwork inspired by the track. The project celebrated the intersection of music and visual art, with creators contributing illustrations, portraits and digital pieces that captured the mood and message of the song.
Released in October 2021 as part of Kid X’s album Father of Zen under Sony Music Entertainment Africa, “Zen” is a laid-back and introspective track produced by Lunatik, also known as Mnqobi Nxumalo. The song blends Kid X’s smooth delivery with Boskasie’s soulful contribution, creating a reflective atmosphere that encourages calmness, self-awareness and mental clarity.
Sharing the memory with fans, Kid X wrote, “Throwback Sunday to when we did a thing with some incredible artists. Tagged as many as I could remember. Big shout out to my bro @ifarahnkosi for putting this visualised together.”
He also acknowledged a long list of artists who contributed to the project, including creators such as @siyenguchristopher, @artiste.duncan, @realogy5, @lechisme.art, @nic_mavundla_artistry and @black_scotty_. The group represented a mix of pencil illustrators, digital artists, portrait specialists and emerging talents from across South Africa.
The artworks were reportedly brought together into a visual compilation, possibly a digital gallery or video montage curated by @ifarahnkosi. Kid X praised the outcome as “timeless work” and expressed gratitude to the artists who took part in the project, noting that he felt humbled by their creativity and support.
The initiative highlights how South Africa’s hip hop culture often extends beyond music into other creative fields. Projects like this show how songs can inspire visual storytelling and bring artists from different disciplines together.
Years after its release, “Zen” continues to resonate with listeners and remains a fan favourite from Father of Zen, with steady streams across platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube.
