The head coach of Chelsea Football Club Liam Rosenior has provided an update on Trevoh Chalobah’s injury which he picked up against PSG.
The English defender was stretchered off during Chelsea’s heavy Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain. Rosenior confirmed during his post-match press conference that Chalobah sustained a high ankle sprain, but stressed that the club is still awaiting full medical assessment.
He said,
“We’re hoping and praying it’s not as bad as first feared,” Rosenior said, adding that scans would determine the severity of the injury.
The incident occurred late in the game following a challenge that left Chalobah in significant pain, forcing him off on a stretcher. Early indications suggest the injury could be serious, although the exact recovery timeline is not yet known.
Rosenior also admitted concern over Chelsea’s growing injury list, noting the team can ill afford to lose another defender at this stage of the season.
This is coming after the club’s captain Reece James, Malo Gusto and Berniot Badiashile were all initially ruled out due to hamstring and illness respective.
