Lowfeye Opens Up About The Heart Behind ‘Umfana KaMakhulu’ Album. KZN native rapper Lowfeye has given fans a deeper look into the creative process behind his August 2024 release, Umfana KaMakhulu.
In a heartfelt social media post, the artist revealed that the album started as a very personal project, meant to showcase his authentic self. “The whole concept of it was to be myself as much as I can,” Lowfeye explained, reflecting on the original vision for the album.

While the project eventually included tracks aimed at appealing to trap fans, he admitted that the songs closest to his true self unexpectedly resonated the most with listeners. Highlighting the track Self Love, he shared, “Bro, I made that song for me,” showing how the creative process was as much a journey of self-discovery as it was about connecting with his audience.
Lowfeye’s post also revealed the balancing act he faced between staying true to himself and experimenting with sounds to reach a wider audience. Despite adding tracks to accommodate “ama trapper,” it was the raw, unfiltered songs that ultimately moved people.
Umfana KaMakhulu is now being celebrated not just for its beats and lyricism but also for the emotional depth that Lowfeye brought to the table, proving that sometimes the most personal songs are the ones that leave the biggest impact.
