Speaking openly in a recent interview, the former TWC (The Wrecking Crew) member reflected on where he currently stands as a creative. When asked whether he is making music to satisfy fans, explore new ideas, or simply follow his instincts, MashBeatz summed it up as being in “the growth phase.”

“I’m in the growth phase. I’m just trying to expand,” he said. “I don’t want to say I made it or anything like that. I just want to go past where I am now. I feel like for the country, I’ve done enough. I want to expand outside the country, get a feature here and there, and secure placements internationally.”

The statement paints the picture of an artist who feels confident in his local legacy but hungry for more. MashBeatz has already played a major role in shaping modern South African hip-hop, producing for artists like A-Reece, Wordz, and others, while also releasing his own respected projects. Now, his focus appears to be shifting toward global reach, international collaborations, and production credits beyond Mzansi.

Fueling the excitement even further, MashBeatz hinted that his first release of the year may catch listeners completely off guard. “My first song to drop this year might not even be hip hop, not piano, not three steps,” he revealed.

The comment seemingly rules out the familiar elements fans associate with his recent work, from traditional hip-hop beats to piano-led arrangements and three-step rhythms linked to amapiano and trap-inspired sounds. Instead, it suggests a conscious move into unexplored sonic territory, aligning with his goal of artistic expansion.

As one of South African hip-hop’s most influential producers, MashBeatz stepping into new genres and international spaces could signal a defining moment in his career. Whether this marks a long-term reinvention or a bold experiment, 2026 is shaping up to reveal a more adventurous and globally minded version of MashBeatz.
