Nadia Nakai Shares Balanced View On AI’s Role In Creative Industries. South African rapper and entrepreneur Nadia Nakai has shared her thoughtful perspective on the heated discussion about artificial intelligence (AI) in creative fields, offering a candid yet balanced view on its place in business and marketing.

In a recent social media video, Nadia Nakai addressed fellow creators concerned about AI’s growing presence. Known for hits like “Naaa Meaan” and her successful business ventures, she explained how she uses AI practically while standing firm against letting it fully replace human creativity.
“I’ve seen a lot of TikTok and social media posts about AI and how scary it can be for many creators,” Nadia said. “Personally, I use AI a lot in my business. But what I don’t like is generating AI content from scratch. I prefer to shoot a photo myself and then use AI to enhance those images—images created by a person with real creativity and skill.”
The award-winning artist, celebrated for authenticity in both music and entrepreneurship, acknowledged AI’s power to democratise creative tools. “It’s absolutely amazing,” she said. “It’s helped many small business owners who can’t afford high-end photoshoot campaigns to create professional visuals that boost their products.”
Bragga sees AI as a tool that raises standards without removing the human touch. “I support AI apps that help us present our products in a professional, world-class way,” she explained. “But I don’t support AI that replaces creativity altogether.”
She revealed the internal struggle that many creatives face today. “I’m always torn between how much AI to use in my marketing and business, and how much to rely on real people,” she admitted. “I don’t want to kill the industry. AI is just amplifying what we do. It’s going to be tricky for the industry, no doubt. These are scary times.”
Her comments come at a critical moment when AI-driven image-generation is reshaping marketing, photography, and content creation. This shift has stirred fears of job loss among photographers, graphic designers, and other musicians, while simultaneously allowing smaller brands and entrepreneurs to compete with high-quality visuals.
As a leading voice in South African hip-hop and a businesswoman navigating the digital age, Nadia Nakai’s nuanced stance highlights a key debate: viewing AI as a powerful enhancer rather than a full replacement for human artistry.
