Speaking candidly about the realities of navigating fame and business, the Durban-born star, born Nsikayesizwe David Junior Ngcobo, explained that trust and transparency became non-negotiables as his career evolved.

“I needed someone I could trust next to me,” he shared, underscoring how personal the artist-manager relationship truly is. For him, having a manager means full openness about everything from creative direction to financial decisions. “You know where your mind is at when you are working on the album. Who you really wanna work with. What things you want to do and not do for money.”

The rapper was equally frank about the industry’s commercial side. “Because that’s essentially what we are doing here. A bunch of stuff is for money. And also transparency with the money.” His words reflect a seasoned artist who understands both the artistry and the business behind every release.

Past experiences played a major role in shaping this outlook. Nasty C revealed that he previously attempted similar working relationships with others, but those arrangements did not end well. “They didn’t have my best interest at heart. They were working on their own thing. I was just a vehicle for them.”

The move comes as Nasty C continues carving out his path as an independent force. After high-profile releases such as FREE and his Def Jam-backed project Zulu Man with Some Power, the rapper has navigated major label systems, global collaborations and the weight of international expectations. Now, he appears focused on maintaining creative control while securing his long-term legacy.
