Veteran Toulon centre Ma’a Nonu has been cited for foul play following an incident in the Investec Champions Cup last-16 clash against the Stormers at the Stade Mayol.
The 43-year-old former All Black was yellow-carded by referee Christophe Ridley for a dangerous tackle on Stormers replacement midfielder Wandisile Simelane in the 79th minute shortly after coming off the bench.
The EPCR confirmed on Tuesday that Nonu is now facing further disciplinary action after being cited for an alleged breach of Law 9.13 for dangerous tackling.
The complaint was lodged by citing commissioner Dave Guyan and relates to contact above the line of the shoulders.

Under World Rugby’s sanction guidelines, the offence carries entry point sanctions ranging from two weeks to a maximum of 52 weeks, depending on severity and mitigating factors.
An independent disciplinary panel chaired by Gareth Graham, alongside Donal Courtney and Marcelo D’Orey, was due to hear the case via video conference on Tuesday.
Toulon won a tight, controversial contest 28-27 to advance to the quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, Sale Sharks replacement hooker Nathan Jibulu is facing a potentially lengthy suspension after being cited for alleged biting.
Jibulu is accused of biting Will Hobson during Sale’s 26-17 win over Harlequins at the Twickenham Stoop. The incident, in the 69th minute, falls under Law 9.12 of physical abuse.
Sanctions for biting are among the most severe in the game, with entry points starting at 12 weeks and extending up to 208 weeks, depending on factors.
That case will be heard by a separate disciplinary panel chaired by Philippe Cavalieros.
