Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has revealed the unexpected story behind his viral freestyle 2:02PM in London, saying it was born out of pure frustration, from a missing stash of weed to Nigeria’s never-ending power issues.
In a recent interview, the outspoken hip-hop artist explained that he wrote the track shortly after landing in London, still irritated after discovering that a friend had forgotten to bring his weed to the airport. “Ade didn’t bring my weed to the airport, I was finished,” he joked. “I was angry, so I just went to the studio to meet Surez, who already had some.” That moment of irritation, he said, sparked the raw energy that fueled the freestyle’s creation.
But beneath the humor and streetwise bars lies a deeper social message. One of the track’s standout lines, “Weather man dey come pray for NEPA”, reflects the rapper’s commentary on Nigeria’s unreliable electricity system.
Recalling the inspiration, Odumodublvck said, “The rain was falling that day in Abuja, and as soon as we heard thunder, they took the light. That’s what I was talking about, imagine a country where thunder means power outage.” He added that the lyric captured the absurdity of Nigerians having to “pray for NEPA” whenever it rains.
The rapper also broke down another witty line, “Harmattan go suit their agenda”, explaining that it refers to people who prefer the dry season because it doesn’t interfere with electricity the way the rainy season does.
The freestyle, which quickly became a fan favorite, was not just a venting session but also a deliberate effort to prove his lyrical skill to critics who questioned his depth as a rapper.
By turning irritation into art, Odumodublvck transformed a moment of everyday frustration into one of his most memorable records, 2:02PM in London, a track that blends humor, honesty, and sharp social commentary in the way only he can.
