South African schoolboy sensation Tiaan Basson has reportedly caught the attention of clubs in England and France despite not yet playing first-team rugby.
According to Rapport, the then 16-year-old Paul Roos Gimnasium centre’s powerful runs in a highlight video from a game for Cheltenham College in England last year have sparked interest from Sale Sharks, Bristol Bears, Bath, Toulouse, Toulon and Stade Français. Even Australian rugby league side Sydney Roosters have reportedly taken notice.

Basson, who has Hungarian citizenship, spent time at Cheltenham as part of an exchange program. However, Rapport states that no official negotiations have taken place, as he remains in school.
His father Handre downplayed speculation, telling the news outlet: “He’s still young. We’ll see what the future holds.”
