His comment followed K.Keed’s refusal to freestyle on a Pro beat during her 5FM interview with DJ Speedsta, sparking a heated debate on social media about legacy, respect, and generational taste.

Pro Kid’s longtime producer Dome, however, is taking the high road. Speaking to The Citizen, he said he wasn’t offended by Blxckie’s remarks and instead views them as a natural difference between eras.

“I actually like Blxckie; his whole thing was not about me, it wasn’t about Pro. It was about the difference between the art,” Dome said. “Do we age like fine wine, or do we age like milk? Us, as black people, we do not age like milk; we age like wine.”

While many framed Blxckie’s comments as a slight on Pro Kid’s legacy, Dome emphasised that the culture must keep moving forward. “The culture needs to move forward. Hip hop is not even ours, we are South African,” he added.

Reflecting on his own role in shaping the sound of local hip hop, Dome pointed out how his work with Pro Kid in the early 2000s pushed the genre into new territory, following in the footsteps of trailblazers like Prophets of the City.
