RG Snyman says it would be an honour to earn his 50th Test cap for the Springboks against Ireland at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday.
The towering lock, now a key figure at Leinster, is expected to reach the milestone at home of Irish rugby.
With the bulk of Andy Farrell’s squad drawn from Snyman’s club teammates, the occasion will be unlike any he has experienced in green and gold.
“It will be very special to play against Ireland, because it’s been such a big part of my career,” Snyman said. “I have a lot of friends here. You always put in a little extra because you want their respect.”

Snyman’s 49th cap came in Saturday’s 32-14 win against Italy in Turin, having made his debut against England at Ellis Park in 2018.
The 30-year-old would have reached 50 caps much earlier had he not suffered several setbacks, including two ACL ruptures, severe burns and a chest injury.
“The injuries made me stronger. It was the hardest time of my life,” he said. “I’m stronger psychologically now. I’m desperate to wear the Bok jersey every week.”

Snyman insists he hasn’t thought much about the looming milestone, even after celebrating Siya Kolisi’s 100th cap in Paris.
“I’m taking it week by week. It would be incredible to play my 50th, because I missed so many Tests.”
