Saffas dominate European dream team

Two of the four South Africans selected in the Investec Champions Cup Team of the Week are World Cup-winning Springboks.

The Stormers beat Sale Sharks in Cape Town for their first win in the competition this season, but it was a case of bitter disappointment for the Sharks and Bulls, who went down against Toulouse and Castres, respectively.

Three Scots, two Englishmen and a pair of Frenchmen feature in a star lineup dominated by the South Africans, who have four representatives.

STATE OF EURO CUPS: Sharks are SA’s best hope

Manie Libbok scored 13 points as the Stormers thrashed Sale 40-0 at Cape Town Stadium, where Stefan Ungerer starred at scrumhalf for the hosts in only second start of the season.

The powerful Thomas du Toit earned a spot after playing a prominent role for Bath against Clermont. He was named man of the match for his brace in another dominant display as Johann van Graan’s charges triumphed 40-21 at the Rec.

Former Stormers flyer Dillyn Leyds scored a superb solo try for La Rochelle in a 16-14 home defeat to Leinster in a top of the table clash in Pool 2.
