Tobi Amusan becomes the fastest woman in the world in 2024

Following the completion of a race in Jamacia, Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan has been declared the fastest woman in the world in 2024.

It has been a non-stop record-breaking moment for Nigerian athlete Tobi Amusan as she unlocked a new achievement of becoming the fastest woman in the world for 2024 after her recent race in Jamacia.

Tobi Amusan proved she is the fastest woman in the world this year as she outran world champion Danielle Williams amidst the backing of her home crowd.

The Nigerian athlete finished the 100m hurdles at the Jamaica Athletics Invitational in a remarkable 12.40 seconds, leaving the top-class field behind.

This dominant performance was achieved in ideal +0.9m/s conditions in Kingston and saw Amusan beat current World Champion, Danielle Williams of Jamaica, who settled for second in 12.46 seconds.

American Christina Clemons took third place in 12.54 seconds as Amusan reestablished her dominance on the global stage.

With this showing, Amusan has made a strong statement of intent ahead of the biggest meetings this summer and the 2024 Paris Olympics.

She was in top form in 2024, setting an African record of 12.58 seconds in Doha last month, and has clearly maintained her momentum after her world record run of 12.12 seconds to win gold at last year’s World Championships in Oregon.

Amusan’s early-season time in Jamaica is a warning to her competitors that it will be tough to stop her from reclaiming her world title, as she displayed her exceptional technique, speed, and confidence again to leave an outstanding field behind in Kingston.
