Tony Dayimane Claps Back After Okayswisher Questions His Musical Growth. The South African hip hop scene is buzzing once again after a heated online exchange between Durban rapper Tony Dayimane and media personality Okayswisher.

What began as a casual critique of Dayimane’s musical direction quickly spiralled into a public back-and-forth that touched on bruised egos, old encounters, and allegations around paid social media influence. In a social media comment, Okayswisher stated that Tony Dayimane’s sound had grown predictable. He remarked that the rapper seemed stuck in the same flow he introduced during his breakout Big Boy EP era.

The Durban native rapper did not let the comment slide. The 21-year-old artist, who rose to prominence in 2023 with the Big Boy EP and collaborations alongside Okmalumkoolkat and Usimamane, fired back directly.
He implied that Okayswisher’s comment had less to do with music and more to do with a personal slight from the previous year. According to Dayimane, the criticism stemmed from resentment over a handshake that never happened, a claim that immediately caught the attention of fans watching the exchange unfold.
The rapper then escalated matters with a pointed jab that sparked even wider debate. He suggested that Okayswisher’s online opinions could be influenced by money, referencing a figure of R700 and implying that positive commentary could be bought for a relatively small fee. While the remark played into long-standing rumours about influencer culture and pay-for-promotion practices, no evidence has emerged to support such claims against Okayswisher specifically.
As of now, Okayswisher has not issued a public response. Still, the damage, or entertainment depending on perspective, was already done. Tony Dayimane is no stranger to controversy. He has previously clashed with peers like Blxckie, often weaving real-life tensions into his music.
