Tottenham Hotspur completes the signing of Xavi Simons

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig on a permanent deal.

Tottenham confirmed the news on its official website on Friday August 29, 2025 which is three days until the close of the 2025 summer transfer window. Xavi Simons signed a five year deal which will keep him at White Hart Lane until 2030 with an option to extend by two more years.

Spurs decided to sign Simons, who has been in Chelsea this summer, to strengthen head coach Thomas Frank forward line. This was after missing out on deals for Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze and losing James Maddison to an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

The 22-year-old expressed his excitement to join Tottenham on the club’s website during his first interview.

He said,

“I am really happy and can’t wait to get going. I’ve been dreaming of this for a long time. It’s a great Club and when I met the Head Coach I knew straight away that this was the right place for me.I will bring flair to the team but also hard work and discipline. I want to do everything I can to win, for the team and also for the fans.”

The Netherlands international have been made available by Leipzig this summer, despite only joining the Bundesliga club on a €50m permanent deal from Paris Saint-Germain in January 2025.

The signing of Simons is followed by Mohammed Kudus and Mathys Tel, who spent the second half of 2024-25 on loan at Spurs from Bayern, alongside the loan arrival of Joao Palhinha.
