Victor Boniface gives update on his injury

Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface has shared an update on his injury after he underwent surgery.

The 25-year-old shared pictures and videos of himself on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, via his official social media account after his first training session with Werder Bremen. Most Nigerians have congratulated Victor Boniface on his recovery process after he was out for a long time.

Boniface had been struggling with a knee injury during his 2025-26 loan spell at Werder Bremen. The injury didn’t improve during the season, leading to a decision to undergo surgery in Innsbruck, Austria in January 2026.

After the operation, Boniface has begun rehabilitation and is resuming light training with Bayer Leverkusen’s medical staff overseeing his recovery.

When will Victor Boniface return to playing for Werder Bremen?

This progress is a positive sign, but he’s still in the early phases of getting match-fit again. There hasn’t been an official timeline for a full competitive return yet.

The signs are positive, and if rehabilitation continues without complications, Victor Boniface could soon be back doing what he does best. He is returning at a good time for himself which could also see him represent the Super Eagles at the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations barring any injury and if he remains fit.
