The Super Falcons of Nigeria have announced their squad for the upcoming friendly match against Cameroon, part of the preparations for WAFCON 2026.
Super Falcons head coach Justine Madugu has officially unveiled a 25-player roster for Nigeria’s upcoming high-profile friendly matches against the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon. The squad announcement marks the final phase of preparation as the ten-time African champions gear up to defend their title at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The double-header is scheduled for Saturday, February 28, and Tuesday, March 3, 2026, in the Cameroonian capital, Yaoundé.
The most striking detail of the list is the omission of six-time African Player of the Year, Asisat Oshoala. While no official reason was given for her absence, the squad remains formidable, led by captain Rasheedat Ajibade and world-class goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie.
Madugu has leaned on a blend of veteran experience and emerging talent:
- Maiden Call-ups: England-based goalkeeper Comfort Erhabor (Portsmouth) and Tanzania-based midfielder Precious Christopher receive their first senior invitations.
- Major Returns: Midfield veteran Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene makes a long-awaited return to the national fold, alongside US-based forward Gift Monday, who missed last year’s continental triumph.
- Defensive Stability: Regulars such as Ashleigh Plumptre, Michelle Alozie, and Osinachi Ohale have all been retained to anchor the backline.
