The rapper and singer took to Instagram to defend his versatility and question why his name is being placed alongside artists he believes have yet to master a single lane.

The Cameroonian-born, Johannesburg-raised artist, who has moved fluidly between trap, hip hop, pop, and R&B since his 2015 breakout, did not mince words. Referencing his recent chart performance and lyrical ability, Swiss wrote:

“I had pop & rnb/soul projects both charting at the same time early last year & will still out-rap a jit if it comes down to hip hop. I don’t understand why I’m being compared to a nigga who is not even nice at one genre 👨🏾‍🦱 And to think my next project is not even in any of those genres I just mentioned .. make it make sense”

The comments arrive amid a simmering online exchange with rising underground rapper K1llbrady, whose bass-driven sound and youthful following have made him a notable voice in pockets of the scene. The friction can be traced back to mid February, when Swiss stepped in to defend veteran DJ DJ Speedsta during criticism that also involved Blxckie.

K1llbrady responded with generational jabs, suggesting he had not heard Swiss’s name since childhood and dismissing his formula. Yung Swiss countered by framing the back and forth as tough love, implying he was positioning the younger rapper for a wider audience beyond niche underground circles.

Beyond the online theatrics, Swiss’s post doubles as a reminder of his résumé. Crowned “Trap King” by MTV Base in 2017, he reached a wider audience through the gold-certified hit “Mayo” alongside DJ Speedsta, Tellaman, Shane Eagle, and Frank Casino. Over the years, he has shifted comfortably between street anthems such as “David Genaro” and “Jungle” with K.O, and melody-leaning projects that highlight his range.
