Two of Quade Cooper’s former Wallabies teammates are in support of his intention to force his way into Australia’s 2027 World Cup squad.
The 38-year-old recently revealed he remains interested in another Wallabies call-up despite not having played a professional match since May last year.
Former Wallabies wing Drew Mitchell believes age should not count against the veteran playmaker if he can prove he is still good enough.
“Who cares how old he is if he’s capable?” Mitchell said on The KOKO Show.
“He’s had a year off now; he’s got to prove himself to be capable, but I don’t care if he’s 18 or 38. If you’re good enough, you’re good enough.
“He’s got to find a gig next year. I think for him to make it, it would have to be a Super Rugby gig, prove himself, and, as I said, I don’t care how old he is.”

Former Wallabies playmaker Matt Giteau admitted he initially assumed Cooper’s international career was over, but believes a strong relationship with new Wallabies coach Les Kiss could work in the flyhalf’s favour.
“Maybe he’s got a good relationship with Les. Maybe with Joe it just was never going to be.
“I agree with Drew, it’s going to be tough to get a gig this late. I know he’s with Kintetsu, but they’ve got Manie Libbok at 10, so I don’t think he’ll get enough minutes to prove himself.”
