Swys de Bruin has reportedly resigned as Springbok Women head coach following a dispute with SA Rugby.
According to Rapport, De Bruin has already left his position and is not involved in preparations for Saturday’s Test against New Zealand’s Black Ferns at FNB Stadium.
In his absence, the Bok Women have enlisted the help of Junior Boks assistant coach Melusi Mthethwa, who works under head coach Kevin Foote.
De Bruin’s departure comes after he guided the Springbok Women to a historic World Cup campaign in England last year. South Africa reached the quarter-finals for the first time before being eliminated by New Zealand, and De Bruin had been expected to remain in charge through to the 2029 World Cup in Australia.
Rapport claims that his dispute with SA Rugby centred on win bonuses relating to the team’s tours to Africa and Fiji, which De Bruin did not personally attend. The former Lions and Springbok assistant coach reportedly maintained that he was entitled to the bonuses despite his absence from those tours.

De Bruin is also said to have been unhappy about alleged interference during his time in charge.
According to Rapport’s sources, the experienced coach is now planning to become involved with Paarl Boys’ High.
