The Le Roux family have doubled their stake in Stormers Rugby, buying out Ardagh Glass Packaging Group Africa’s shares in the Red Disa Investments consortium.
Fynbos Group now holds 71.5% of the Cape club, with André van der Veen’s Marble Head Investments retaining 2.5% and the Western Province Rugby Union (WPRU) holding 26%.
Johan le Roux, son of Capitec founder Michiel le Roux and Stormers Rugby CEO, announced the move on Tuesday evening at the Stormers’ 2026-27 kit and season launch at Cape Town Stadium.

Fynbos Equity and Ardagh became equal partners in Red Disa in 2023 to secure a controlling interest, before the shift in Ardagh’s shareholding prompted Fynbos to expand its stake.
The increased investment underpins the Stormers’ long-term strategy, which includes bringing established Springboks Siya Kolisi, Cheslin Kolbe and Wilco Louw back to the club, alongside continued backing for the Stormers Rugby Institute, Stormers Bolts and Stormers XXIII development structures.
