Barretts lined up for Prem move

Two of the Barrett brothers are reportedly set for a post-World Cup switch as a pair of English clubs jostle to sign the All Blacks stalwarts.

Planet Rugby reports that the Bristol Bears are in advanced talks with Beauden and Scott Barrett over a move after the 2027 edition of rugby’s global spectacle in Australia.

The Newcastle Red Bulls, with Red Bull’s money behind the club, are also understood to remain in the hunt.

Neither Premiership outfit has commented on the matter.

Scott and Beauden are committed to the All Blacks until 13 November, 2027, with their NZ Rugby contracts running to the end of that year.

The 35-year-old Beauden, as well as younger sibling Jordie, have used approved sabbaticals within their national deals to play overseas.

Beauden turned out for Suntory Sungoliath in 2021 and Toyota Verblitz from 2023 to 2024, while Jordie (29) spent the 2024-25 season at Leinster.
