A-Reece Defends K-Rev As Criticism Mounts Following ‘Are We There Yet?’ Release. A-Reece has come to K-Rev’s defence after criticism surfaced online following the release of the Revenge Club Records affiliate’s latest EP, Are We There Yet?
The South African hip-hop heavyweight addressed the conversation in an Instagram Story. He pushed back against claims questioning K-Rev’s approach to promoting the project and attempts to link its reception to his association with the young rapper.
“K-Rev dropped a fire EP yesterday,” A-Reece wrote. “Already, the predictable, disparaging narratives like ‘his nonchalant attitude towards this release won’t get him anywhere, and it’s Reece’s fault’ are desperately being spread by lowly individuals.”
The rapper also pointed to K-Rev’s consistency, arguing that the artist has been putting in work and releasing music while developing his identity without relying on excessive publicity.
A-Reece took particular issue with the suggestion that K-Rev’s progress should be viewed through his own career or influence. According to him, some of the criticism appears to be directed at him because of his relationship with the artist rather than an honest assessment of K-Rev’s music.
“Y’all are just saying these things because of my association with the kid,” he added. “And it’s sad watching my name overshadow the heart he puts into his work. He deserves to be heard for himself.”
K-Rev, whose real name is Samukelo Qhena, has been building his catalogue under the Revenge Club Records umbrella. The Daveyton-born, Soweto-based rapper has previously worked with DJ Clen, including on the 2025 mixtape The Only Way UP, while also making appearances across the local hip-hop scene.
His latest project, Are We There Yet?, arrived on Sunday, September 28, giving listeners another look into the direction he has been developing.
A-Reece’s comments ultimately shifted attention back to the music and K-Rev’s own artistic journey. Rather than allowing the conversation to centre on his involvement, he made it clear that he wants the young rapper’s work to be assessed on its own merits.
