A double World Cup-winning Springbok could follow Siya Kolisi and Cheslin Kolbe’s example by returning to Cape Town.
According to Rapport, Damian de Allende is keen to rejoin the Stormers after his deal with Japanese club the Saitama Wild Knights expires in June 2027.
The 34-year-old inside centre, who has earned 98 Test caps, is understood to have held informal discussions with the Cape club, with those talks expected to progress.
“There are discussions [with De Allende]. Dan [du Plessis] is leaving for Bordeaux, so there is potentially a gap,” a source told Rapport.

However, the Stormers are also mindful of balancing experience with long-term planning, particularly after securing the return of Kolisi (from the Sharks), Kolbe (Suntory Sungoliath in Japan) and Springbok tighthead prop Wilco Louw (Bulls).
“The Stormers need to strike a balance with an eye on their 2029 goal,” the source said. “It is not just about winning everything, but about having a system that enables sustained excellence.”

De Allende last played for the Stormers in 2019 before joining Munster in Ireland. He moved to the Wild Knights in 2022 and has remained a key figure for both club and country.
