The Bulls face competition from a fellow South African club in their pursuit of Springbok hooker Malcolm Marx.
According to Rapport, the Sharks have emerged as another potential destination for the 32-year-old, who is contracted to Japan’s Kubota Spears until June 2027.
The Bulls have made no secret of their desire to bring Marx to Pretoria, having pursued his signature for the past two months.
However, the Sharks are also exploring the possibility of recruiting the two-time World Cup winner amid uncertainty surrounding Bongi Mbonambi’s future in Durban.

Mbonambi is facing an internal disciplinary hearing over alleged misconduct during a Sharks team-building session, while fellow hooker Fez Mbatha is struggling with a leg injury.
A source told Rapport that Sharks coach JP Pietersen, general manager Dave Williams and head of recruitment and retention Ruan Jacobs have already discussed the possibility of signing Marx.
