The Springboks will not be short of familiar opponents when they face the Barbarians in Saturday’s season opener in Gqeberha.
The famous invitational side has assembled a squad packed with international experience, including former Springbok fullback Warrick Gelant and Scotland prop Oli Kebble.
Gelant, who earned 11 Test caps for South Africa, was announced as one of the latest additions earlier this week, while Kebble joined the squad shortly afterwards as preparations intensified in Cape Town.

For Kebble, the invitation carried special significance.
The Scotland international revealed that he was having lunch with his father, former Springbok prop Guy Kebble, when the call arrived.
“At least I could share it with him first,” Kebble told Rugby365, confirming that this will be his third appearance for the Barbarians.
The 33-year-old is relishing another opportunity to represent one of rugby’s most iconic teams.
“To bring so many special players into one room, and I always pinch myself sitting across them in a team room, some of the best guys in their positions in the team room, is special.
“It is a unique and special occasion, because not everyone gets the invite. You have to make the most of it if you do get invited.”

The Barbarians squad also features a host of international stars, including South African-born Scotland wing Duhan van der Merwe, former All Blacks scrumhalf TJ Perenara, Wallabies wing Andrew Kellaway, Argentina flyhalf Tomás Albornoz and Uruguay scrumhalf Santiago Arata.
