Two Ways Scholarships Can Make a Difference
Full Scholarships provide comprehensive support for one year, covering school fees, uniforms, learning materials, boarding, and other essential educational needs. Students receiving a full scholarship must reapply each year and demonstrate continued financial need, commitment to their education, and progress. This annual process allows support to be reassessed as each student’s circumstances change.
Get Started Scholarships provide a short-term helping hand when a student needs support to stay in school. This might mean covering a uniform, school supplies, a term of fees, or another essential education cost when a family is struggling to make ends meet. There is no single reason a student may struggle to stay in school. For Trinity, financial hardship threatened her transition into secondary school and her dream of becoming a doctor. For Julius, the challenge was much more than school fees. He was walking 17 kilometres to and from school every day because his family could not afford boarding.
Their circumstances are different. But both students share something important: the determination to keep learning despite the barriers in their way.
Trinity: Keeping a Dream Alive
Trinity, a high school student, is the second-born in a family of three and is being raised by her single mother. Her mother’s small tailoring business earns just 10,000–20,000/(2-$5) = per month, making it difficult to cover the family’s basic needs and education costs.
Despite these challenges, Trinity dreams of becoming a doctor.
In 2025, an Asante Africa Foundation scholarship helped Trinity transition from primary to secondary school. She has now received scholarship support again, covering school fees, scholastic materials, and pocket money.

Julius: A 17-Kilometre Journey to School
Julius, the fourth-born in a family of eight, has always been determined to succeed. His father works as a casual farm labourer, while his mother’s health needs add further pressure to the family’s limited income.
Julius dreams of becoming a medical doctor. But because his family could not afford boarding school, he walked 17 kilometres to and from school every day simply to attend class.
Now, Julius has received an Asante Africa Foundation scholarship covering his school fees, scholastic materials, and pocket money.
After walking so far to pursue his education, Julius now has an opportunity to focus less on the barriers in his way—and more on where his education can take him.
