Blaklez Channels Real-World Scars Into Forthcoming Single “Mabadi.” Blaklez is once again drawing from the world around him, turning real-life events and their lasting impact into music with his upcoming single, “Mabadi.”

The rapper, journalist and producer, whose real name is Lesego Moiloa, announced the track on Wednesday morning through a promotional clip shared on social media. Alongside the visual, Blaklez wrote: “Sometimes we can’t avoid real-world events in our craft.”

“Mabadi”, which means “scars” in Setswana, is set to arrive on Friday, 2 October 2026. Blaklez is credited as the writer, while longtime collaborator Beatmochini handled the composition, mixing and mastering.

The title offers an immediate clue to the song’s direction. “Mabadi” points to the marks left behind by experiences, whether personal, social or shaped by events beyond an individual’s control. Blaklez’s accompanying message further suggests that the track will confront the realities that inevitably find their way into an artist’s creative work.

Throughout his career, Blaklez has built a reputation for combining personal reflection with observations of his surroundings. His catalogue includes projects such as Black Beast, A Broken Man’s Dream and Loyal to the Soil, while his Cool&Blak partnership with Jay Jody added another chapter to his evolving sound.
