Bok wing calls it quits

A Springbok speedster has decided to call time on his professional playing career.

Courtnall Skosan has announced his retirement from all forms of rugby after a 16-year career.

He earned 12 Test caps in 2017 and scored two tries.

Skosan came through the Bulls’ youth ranks from 2010, made his senior Currie Cup debut in 2011 and scored seven tries in 12 appearances over two seasons.

At the Lions from 2014, under Johan Ackermann, he made 84 appearances, scored 38 tries and reached three Super Rugby finals. He was also part of the 2015 team that beat Western Province at Ellis Park to win the Currie Cup.

He joined Northampton in 2021, scoring a hat-trick on debut, and returned home in 2023 for a final stint at the Stormers, with 11 appearances across all competitions.

“It took me three months to summarise the best 16 years of my life. Thank you, rugby!” he wrote on Instagram. “The boots may be hung up, but the purpose remains.

“The best is yet to come.”
