Bosch will start his French journey in the country’s second division, as Brive aim for promotion to the Top 14 after finishing in sixth place this season.

His departure follows the announcement that Lions flyhalf Jordan Hendrikse will join the Sharks in July, with Siya Masuku currently preferred as the first-choice No 10 by John Plumtree.

Despite starting the season as the preferred flyhalf at the Sharks, Bosch has mostly been used as a substitute this year, starting just one game since March.

The 26-year-old joined the Sharks straight out of high school and made his professional debut as a 19-year-old in 2016. He celebrated his 100th cap for the franchise in the Challenge Cup quarter-final against Edinburgh at Kings Park and played off the bench in the final against Gloucester in London.

Bosch will join a small contingent of South Africans at Brive, including former Cheetahs centre Nico Lee and former Vodacom Bulls and Springbok tighthead prop Marcel van der Merwe.
