Harry Wilson knows the Wallabies will be in for a tough afternoon if they allow the Springboks to build momentum in Sunday’s Test in Perth.
Wilson believes the Wallabies can unlock the Boks’ defence and cause them some major headaches at the Optus Stadium, but insists they will also have to meet South Africa’s physical challenge up front.
“Yeah, they’ve obviously played some really good footy over the last month, but I guess we had a bit of success against them last year where we moved the ball around and backed ourselves,” Wilson said on the Kick Offs and Kick Ons podcast.
“I guess in the forward pack, you’ve got to try to stop them up front too. We know if we let them get a roll, it’s going to be a tough day for us. So hopefully we move the ball around and step up in the forwards.”

Wilson has also been impressed by the impact Les Kiss has made since taking charge of the Wallabies, having previously coached the Reds where Wilson plays.
“Yeah, no, he’s been really good. Same as what he is at the Reds. He’s such a character and the boys love him,” Wilson said.
“He’s just, I guess, a very lovable character when he’s on the grass. He’s serious, he’s switched on and he loves his attack. He’s really tried to bring a little bit more to our attack and trying to make us really expand there and, I guess, back ourselves.”
Wilson says they’ve learnt a lot from the Boks’ 3-1 series win over the All Blacks in Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry series.
“As a forward, the set-piece battle’s massive. They’ve obviously had a really good scrum which dominated the All Blacks and their maul was really threatening too. So we know we’ve got to do a really good job there,” he said.
“And then around the field, they’re obviously physical and love putting the ball up to their wingers to try and get the ball back. So we understand the aerial threat they have, but then also their big forwards getting around the corner, trying to get on the front foot.”
