Cardiff star fires warning shot at Stormers

The Stormers face a massive Vodacom URC challenge on Friday night, with Cardiff convinced their home-ground advantage can power them into the top eight.

John Dobson’s side travel to the Welsh capital knowing a win could be crucial as they continue to chase a home playoff, but Cardiff are equally desperate with their season on the line.

Fullback Jacob Beetham says the Welsh outfit will draw confidence from a superb record at the Arms Park, where they have lost just once this year.

“We’ve got our last regular-season game against the Stormers, which we can hopefully fly into and hopefully confirm our place in that top eight,” said Beetham.

“I think it will give us loads of confidence, the fact that we’ve only lost one game this year at home.

“We’re going to do everything to fly into it and hopefully get the result. The main thing is getting that top eight this season.”

STATE OF THE URC: All to play for in final round

Cardiff head into the clash on the back of a 40-17 defeat to Glasgow, but Beetham believes there were enough positives to take from the performance.

“We knew coming into this that Glasgow are obviously a really good team and that shows with where they are in the table at the moment,” he said.

“We knew it was going to be a really tough challenge and we fought really hard through all of that game. Obviously, we lost to the better team in the end.”
