Cash goes tried and tested for All Blacks

Bruising No 8 Francke Horn will lead the Lions in their Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry tour match against the All Blacks at Ellis Park on Tuesday.

Coach Ivan van Rooyen has named a strong team to face the tourists, who’ll be on a high following their 33-16 victory over the Springboks at the same venue on Saturday.

Springbok Quan Horn starts at fullback for the Joburg outfit, with Kelly Mpeku and Erich Cronjé rounding off the back three.

TEAM: Richie at 10 as All Blacks aim for SA sweep

Richard Kriel and Henco van Wyk form a powerful midfield partnership, with the metronomic Chris Smith entrusted with the No 10 jersey.

Nico Steyn – who’s already been part of a Springbok alignment camp this year – is preferred above Haashim Pead at scrumhalf. The impressive Siba Mahashe and juggernaut Batho Hlekani join their captain in the loose trio while Etienne Oosthuizen and Ruan Delport man the engine room.

SJ Kotze, PJ Botha and Sebastian Lombard make up the front row.

Van Rooyen has also named his new recruits on the bench. Bok prop Boan Venter, lock Hyron Andrews, loose forward Sikhumbuzo Notshe and utility back Boeta Chamberlain will all make their first appearances in Lions colours.
