Cassper Takes Aim At The Podcast Boom: “Too Many Unskilled People Chasing Views.” In a refreshingly candid moment during his appearance on the Upclose interview, South African hip-hop heavyweight Cassper Nyovest did not hold back when asked for his thoughts on the explosion of podcasts in the entertainment space.

“I think there are too many unskilled people on camera,” Cassper said bluntly. “It’s like you are putting a camera in front of guys who are having a conversation in the hood, and not all of them are talented at broadcasting. Because they don’t have ways to keep people entertained, they end up saying mean things about people so that they can get views.”
The rapper, known for his no-nonsense views and massive influence in Mzansi music, drew a sharp contrast between the flood of informal podcast chatter and what he sees as genuine broadcasting talent. He pointed to a recent example that left him genuinely impressed: the debut of Moozlie (Nomuzi Mabena) and Scoop (Siyabonga Ngwekazi) on their new Metro FM weekend show Lift Off.
“I was listening to Moozlie and Scoop on the radio, their first show, and I was amazed,” Cassper recalled. “The whole show ended, and they didn’t take a shot at anybody. It’s so entertaining. They had these different segments where they were breaking down verses from different artists. I’m like, these people are actually talented at broadcasting. Like, Scoop is amazing at broadcasting.”
He went on to argue that the podcast format, while accessible, often overshadows professionals who have honed their craft behind the mic or in front of the camera. “For me, I feel like the podcasts kind of take away from the people who are actually skilled at just being on camera and broadcasting,” he explained.
Cassper was careful to frame his comments as an observation rather than a personal attack. “And it’s not a shot at anybody. It’s just for me, I don’t even watch them because every week it’s them saying something about someone.”
