Cassper’s Gaming Side Earns Him A 2026 SASMA Nomination. Cassper Nyovest is taking his talents beyond the music and entertainment scene, with the South African hip-hop heavyweight earning a surprising nomination for Best Gamer of the Year at the 2026 South African Social Media Awards (SASMAs).
Best known for his music catalogue, major live performances and business ventures, Cassper‘s nomination reflects the increasingly blurred lines between music, gaming and social media content. His digital presence has continued to expand, giving fans another side of the rapper to engage with beyond his music career.
The SASMAs, now in their sixth year with Openserve as a partner, celebrate achievements across South Africa’s social media landscape, recognising influencers, content creators, digital personalities and standout online campaigns.
The 2026 nominees were announced around 22 August, with public voting now underway ahead of the awards ceremony scheduled for 21 November 2026.
Cassper’s inclusion is particularly intriguing given that the Best Gamer category has traditionally been associated with dedicated gaming creators.
