Cheetahs suffer Faf blow

Cheetahs scrumhalf Faf de Klerk faces an extended spell on the sidelines.

The 35-year-old sustained an ankle injury in the 29-27 EPCR Challenge Cup defeat to Bayonne in France last month and has been ruled out for eight weeks.

De Klerk will miss the Cheetahs’ next match in the tournament, against the Dragons at their new European ‘home’ ground St Helen’s in Swansea on 13 December, but is expected to be fit for the round-three clash against Zebre Parma in Italy on 10 January.

The Cheetahs conclude their pool campaign with a ‘home’ match against Perpignan on 17 January.
