Costa Titch’s Mother Shares Painful Message About His Death and Those Profiting From His Legacy. More than three years after the death of Costa Titch, his mother, Lara Langeveld, has shared an emotional message questioning the motives of those she believes may have been threatened by her son’s rising success.

In a heartfelt Instagram post addressed directly to the late South African Amapiano star, Langeveld suggested that jealousy may have played a role in the circumstances surrounding his death, claiming that some people were afraid of the competition he represented.
“Jealousy comes in so many forms, and sometimes the darkest form is wanting someone gone so you can shine in their place,” she wrote, adding that she believes karma will eventually catch up with those responsible for any wrongdoing.
Langeveld also questioned the continued commercial use of her son’s name, music and image, expressing frustration over what she sees as people benefiting from his legacy despite her suspicions about their intentions.
She emphasised her belief that God sees what happens beyond the public eye, including the things that take place behind closed doors.
“God has your back, Costa,” she wrote, describing her son as “a pure heart taken too soon.”
Despite the pain of losing him, Langeveld insisted that his impact on South African music cannot be erased.
“Your legacy, your music and your name can never be erased. You were becoming an icon. And you still are,” she added.

Costa Titch, born Costantinos Tsobanoglou, died on 11 March 2023 after collapsing during his performance at Ultra South Africa in Johannesburg. The 28-year-old reportedly collapsed twice on stage before being rushed to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
His sudden death sparked widespread speculation about what could have caused the medical emergency, with various theories circulating online. Langeveld subsequently raised concerns about the circumstances surrounding that night, including the emergency response and the time it took to get her son to hospital.
However, in May 2024, the family released findings from the post-mortem examination that offered a medical explanation for his death.
According to the findings shared by the family, Costa had an underlying heart condition that he was unaware of. The strain on his heart, combined with prolonged stress and fatigue from an intense performance schedule, was believed to have triggered an irregular heartbeat that led to the seizure that claimed his life. He had reportedly performed in approximately 25 countries within a year.
The family also confirmed that toxicology results were clean, ruling out drugs as a contributing factor. At the time, the findings provided some clarity and helped address rumours that had circulated following his death.
Langeveld has previously spoken about accepting the medical explanation while continuing to carry the emotional burden of losing her son and the questions she has about the events of that night.
Her latest post brings those feelings back into the public conversation, touching on suspected industry jealousy, the use of Costa’s image after his death and the enduring pain of a mother who believes her son had so much more to give.
Before his passing, Costa Titch had established himself as one of South Africa’s distinctive musical talents, blending Amapiano with rap and high-energy performances. Songs such as “Big Flexa” helped introduce his sound to wider audiences, while his stage presence and energetic delivery made him a recognisable figure in the country’s music scene.
His music continues to reach listeners, and fellow artists and supporters regularly celebrate the catalogue and cultural influence he left behind.
For Langeveld, however, his legacy extends beyond chart success and commercial recognition. Her words reflect a mother’s grief, her spiritual convictions and her determination to keep her son’s memory alive.
While her latest allegations remain her personal claims and have not been established as fact, her message underscores the lasting questions and emotions that can remain after a sudden and deeply public loss. Above all, she maintains that Costa Titch’s name, music and impact will endure long after his untimely death.
